CheckPointe Entertainment & (CPE Records) is strategically designed to contribute to the livelihood of a single artist or group. Disciplined in identifying superior talent, the company is committed to supporting the talents of an individual(s) or group(s) seeking counsel, direction, guidance, and development of his/her career.
Kenneth D. Kidd, founder of CheckPointe Entertainment, has always had a fascination for music. The more he learned about it, the more he appreciated it. His knowledge coupled with his valued added skills of recognizing and developing talent has been an attribute to the development of CheckPointe Entertainment.
Kenneth attended and graduated from the Music Business Institute (MBI) of Atlanta. It was there that he learned as much as a textbook and professor could teach him about the business of music. He graduated with a degree in Music Entertainment.
Kenneth, who did not take his gift and degree for granted, He pursued artist management and accepted all trials and/or errors, in the industry, as tools that would sharpen his imaging, managing, and marketing skills. In 1990, Kenneth and Ian Burke founded the acts Xscape and Second Nature (which we know as TLC). Prior to this discovery, Kenneth was the audio engineer and road manager for Silk Tymes Leather, Chad Elliott and Jermaine Dupri (entrepreneur and founder of So-So Def Productions).
